Rodeoline is a branch of slackline or way of practicing it that corresponds to its almost literal meaning. In rodeo the slackline is has no tension at all.

The early stage in the rodeo makes it seem impossible, including mounting it. But if we persist and overcome the first days of frustration, the body will begin to realize what it has to do to stay on top of a zero-tension line. The only tension exerted on the line is that caused by the weight of the slackliner’s body.
After getting used to it, it becomes a very simple kind of line. Which, contrary to what happens in trickline or longline, has no “whims” or will of its own. From the moment we get to mount and balance, , almost anything becomes possible. We can just walk and do static tricks or, the funniest part, surf the rodeoline.
We start with small swings and, after a few sessions, we can start surfing and than exposure surfing, turning or even static and shoulder surfing..The possibilities are endless…
Note: In the early phase of rodeo the falls are very sudden. Usually the first 3 or 4 catch us off guard and we fall helpless. Begin with caution and, if possible, place mattresses under the line.
Setting up a rodeo is not too demanding due to the zero tension applied to the line. Two slings, two carabiners and the line are sufficient, with some knots… If you do not want to do so, two more carabiners solve the problem. Alternatively we can use a weblock which, when adjusting the line, will help a lot, because it allows you to run it to the desired height.
When it comes to height, the minimum height is that from which the line does not need tension to stay of the grounf. But if we already feel confortable we can set it as high as we want or can.
Undoubtedly, the width of rodeo webbings should be 2.5 cm.
As for elasticity, it depends on one’s taste. There are those who prefer a low stretch, around 3%, some who like a Marathon more, and others that prefer super elastic like webbings like Pinktube. This kind we see more in the context of highline as it is difficult for such a line not to touch the ground without tension.
If we want to perform static tricks, especially while surfing, we must choose a soft line.
