Michael Massivo

Michael Massivo has been slacklining since 2011 and is one of the best Portuguese trickliners.

He won the first Portuguese trickline championship and has participated in several international competitions, which took him to countries like USA and China, among other places.

He has a very unique style, with an aggressive flow in which he combines maneuvers as impressive as doubles and several flips to feet.

Having passed through teams like Gibbon Slacklines and SI became, in 2018, athlete of Monkeybiz Slackline.

WHO IS MICHAEL MASSIVO?

How do you find out the slackline?

I discovered slackline by chance, in a public manifestation where I saw a couple of Spanish practicing and to whom I asked what that was.

When have you started slacklining?

I started practicing in the summer of 2011, in August. A friend of mine, a climber, had a slackline to sell and I ended up buying it. I got hooked that day..

What was your first personal victory in the slackline?

Undoubtedly, my first big win was in the first Portuguese trickline championship, when I won the competition, sponsored by MOCHE, which took place in the gardens of Belém, in Lisbon.

Wich was your worst injury?

The worst injury I have suffered, over these years of trickline, was the displacement of the knee rotula.

What were the main competitions in which you participated and which was the most important to you?

I’ve been to several big trickline competitions. I participated in the X-games, Vigo Street Stunts and a few other international championships but it was the Gopro Mountain Games, in USA, that I enjoyed the most. It has always been a competition in which I wanted to participate and the best trickliners in the world were there.

How have you met Monkeybiz?

Soon after starting to promote the slackline in Portugal, with a team that I formed at that time, Monkeybiz appeared in 2012.. I met them in a slackline event, I can not remember which, there were already so many … hahaha ..
